I have confidence in UNC to make a difference.”

– Kathleen Boyd, metastatic breast cancer patient

While there is currently no cure for metastatic breast cancer, Kathleen, an endodontist and graduate of the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, is confident that at UNC Lineberger, she’s in the most capable of hands.

“Having gone to UNC, having been a grad student at UNC, having done research there myself, I would pit UNC minds against any university in the country,” Kathleen says. “They’re just brilliant people there, and they have the cancer center that is making great strides.”

Demonstrate the Power of Pink

Power of Pink is committed to raising critical funds for breast cancer patients at the UNC Breast Cancer Center each October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. New Hope for Pancreatic Cancer Patients

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers. But with support from friends like you, exciting advancements are being made at UNC Lineberger. This includes the work of Jen Jen Yeh, MD, and Autumn McRee, MD, co-directors of our Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence, which was established to focus on this aggressive and difficult-to-treat cancer.

“We now have an infrastructure to . . . diagnose pancreatic cancer better, to develop new treatments, and to make better treatment decisions and improve quality of life,” says Dr. Yeh.

“I think where UNC Lineberger really shines is that all of the trials that we have open right now for pancreatic cancer started in the lab,” adds Dr. McRee. “And it didn’t just start at anybody’s lab. It started in labs right here on campus.”
