Thanks to a $25,000 grant from Prolacta Bioscience Foundation, the UNC Children’s NICU nurses are being provided more resources for breastfeeding mothers.

On October 14th, a training session took place for our NICU nurses, funded by Prolacta Bioscience Foundation. During this training session, the nurses were engaged by a presentation on different aspects of breastfeeding and information on how to help patients understand the process of providing milk to pre-mature infants in the NICU at UNC Children’s.

The NICU nurses divided up into groups and trained with breastfeeding device, simulating interactions with mothers going through the process.

This training session allowed for the nurses to gain hands-on experience with equipment that mothers of premature infants have to use in order to provide their children with the nutrients they need to develop.
