Daily activities can be very challenging for people affected by the more than 100 types of arthritis, over 80 different autoimmune diseases, and countless allergies to foods and environmental factors. That is why we are passionate about conducting cutting-edge research to develop innovative new treatments that can help reduce the impact of these diseases on patients and society. Additionally, we are focused on providing world-class and compassionate medical care to patients while offering the best training available for the leading health care practitioners of tomorrow.

The mission of the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center and Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology is to leverage advanced research, education, and clinical expertise to investigate the causes and consequences of arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and allergies. We are driven by a passion to make a significant and lasting difference for those we serve.
