Despite the ongoing challenges facing all aspects of healthcare in North Carolina and around the world, donors, friends and alumni have continued to support the mission of UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine with overwhelming enthusiasm. For the recently completed fiscal year 2022, the UNC Health Foundation established a new record total of $229 million, surpassing the previous benchmark by more than $30 million.
“This magnitude of support will change lives for so many,” said Leslie H. Nelson-Bernier, Foundation president and UNC Health’s chief philanthropy officer. “The transformational work being done here in Chapel Hill and across the state every day wouldn’t be possible without our donors and their collective dedication to improving healthcare outcomes for their loved ones, for their neighbors and friends, and for strangers in all corners of the world.
“Our more than 40,000 teammates across UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine take great pride in the knowledge that so many share our mission of service.”
The record UNC Health Foundation fundraising total includes more than $115 million in gifts and new commitments, a figure that represents a year-over-year increase of more than $23 million.
