Hope for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Patients

When you support UNC Lineberger, you partner with experts like Lisa Carey, MD, FASCO, the director of our new UNC Lineberger Center for Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). TNBC is a fast-growing cancer that has significantly poorer outcomes than other breast cancers and disproportionately affects Black, Latina, and young women. Fortunately, there is hope in new combinations of standard chemotherapy drugs.

“Combination treatments that attach chemotherapy drugs to antibodies that target cancer cells are already delivering improved outcomes for metastatic TNBC,” says Dr. Carey. “Moving ahead quickly to test these therapies in curable TNBC is crucial.”
