Celebrating 30 Years of the Patient and Family Resource Center

When an ultrasound detected a mass on Michael’s kidney, he quickly found himself under the care of Eric Wallen, MD, FACS, Professor of Urologic Oncology, Robotic Surgery at UNC Lineberger. The surgical team removed an eight-pound cancerous tumor, and Michael, now 36, has been cancer-free for 10 years.

Michael credits Dr. Wallen and his entire care team for his positive outcome: “Dr. Wallen is more than a great surgeon. He’s a person in your life. I’m a Tar Heel — UNC Lineberger was home, it was family.”
