Annual Walk Honors Family Member, Supports MS Educational Fund
The Locklear Family has been a loyal supporter of the UNC Department of Neurology and Dr. Irena Dujmovic Basuroski’s work in multiple sclerosis research and care. Through their annual charity walk, Mary Locklear and her family have raised money in memory of Mary’s late brother, Rhett Anthony Locklear.
“‘Just keep walking’ was what my brother wanted to keep doing,” Mary said. “I have found that education and awareness are the best key and tool for power and knowledge. It has been a blessing through the life and memory of my brother, and I hope my family and I are able to continue educating our communities supporting MS awareness.”

Recently, Mary visited Dr. Dujmovic Basuroski’s lab to present a check from this year’s event for the Locklear Family MS Educational Fund in Neurology, which supports MS education for trainees in the department.
