How to Make a Tribute Gift

1. Start your gift with the Make a Tribute Gift Today button above, then select the fund you would like to support. Use the Fund Search tool if you’re looking for a specific fund. Add your gift amount to your basket.
2. In your gift basket, click “Add a Tribute.”
3. Select whether your gift is in honor of or in memory of someone and enter the name of the person you are recognizing.
4. (Optional) Notify the person named by selecting the toggle to send a notification. They’ll receive a message letting them know a gift was made in tribute. Your gift amount will not be shared.
5. If you choose to send a notification, enter the recipient’s name and email or mailing address.
6. Save your selection, then continue to checkout to complete your donation.

Invite Others to Give in Tribute

Extend the impact of a tribute by inviting others to give in honor or memory of a friend, colleague, community member or loved one. Below please find guidance on including giving language in an obituary, along with our form to request a tribute link that you can share.

For Obituaries & Announcements

To invite others to give, you can include language such as the following in an obituary, memorial program, or announcement:

“In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to UNC Health Foundation in honor of [Name]. If giving by check, please include the name of the person being recognized—and, if desired, a specific fund—in the memo line and send to UNC Health Foundation. You can also make an online gift.”
