When you support UNC Lineberger, you partner with experts like William Kim, MD, a member of the UNC Bladder Cancer Center of Excellence. Dr. Kim is currently conducting research that determines how tumor subtypes respond to certain types of therapies.
Dr. Kim’s groundbreaking research provides hope for patients who have not been offered immunotherapy because of their genetic profiles. This could lead to more effective treatments for patients using precision medicine.

When my husband, Thomas, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2015, Dr. Kim became our friend and guiding light as we navigated the world of cancer. He searched out clinical trials and treatments that gave us a little more time.
That’s why I started the Thomas M. Mohr Bladder Cancer Research Fund to directly support groundbreaking genetics research related to bladder cancer. It is my great hope that one day we will have a cure or gene therapy that will change the outcome for patients like my late husband.
