UNC Children’s has a four-tiered mission to C.A.R.E. that aligns clinical care, advocacy, research and education to deliver world-class, family-centered care – always regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Our exceptional clinical care ensures that no child needs to leave North Carolina for treatment of any medical condition regardless of how critical or rare the challenge.

Children and families are at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about our work and all of the people we serve. Your support will make an impact on children’s health here in North Carolina and around the world.

Care, Compassion, and Love

Lily, born at 22 weeks

“Here’s the thing- it’s not just the care Lily received but the care our whole family received. The staff loved us, even when we were being not so loveable. They carried us through one of the most difficult and devastating times in our lives. They saved my daughter’s life. I will never be able to thank them enough for the care, compassion, and love. If Lily was at any other hospital, I’m not sure she would have survived.”

– Juli, Lily’s mom

Advocacy

Our advocacy and outreach efforts begin at home, yet go far beyond the care we provide inside the walls of our hospital and clinics. On a daily basis, we provide care for children from the Carolinas to Nicaragua to Malawi, putting in place best practices and inspiring policies that will make care delivery better for millions of children.

  • Providing extra support through our Child Maltreatment Program
  • Staffing pediatric clinics globally in Malawi and Nicaragua
  • Offering services and training in underserved rural areas

Children’s Research Institute

The Children’s RESEARCH Institute will change how we treat our patients today and in the future, ultimately changing the outlook for children here in North Carolina and across the globe.

  • Recruiting world renowned researchers, scientists, and clinicians
  • Expanding our clinical trials initiative

Education

Heading

At UNC Children’s, we have a strong tradition in medical EDUCATION with more than 50 years of successful student and resident programs. Our goal is to continue expanding the activities already viewed as leading edge in academic circles nationwide and further impact the delivery of pediatric medical care.
