‘Fill the Pantry’ Food Drive Collects Nearly 2,000 Pounds of Food

The third annual UNC Health “Fill the Pantry” food drive, hosted at the Wegmans Chapel Hill store, collected nearly 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items. Running from February 1 to February 28, the initiative supported the UNC Health FoodWell program, which addresses food insecurity by providing essential nourishment to patients and their families.

A collaborative effort between UNC Health, Wegmans and Carolina Athletics, the campaign encouraged community members to donate items such as canned tuna, salmon, chicken, hearty stews, soups and other staples.

This impactful campaign highlights UNC Health’s commitment to holistic patient care by addressing social challenges like food insecurity. The FoodWell program has served thousands of patients and families since its inception in 2020, making a tangible difference in the lives of North Carolinians.
