At an early age, we are taught the Golden Rule – treat others the way you want to be treated. While many people try to implement this teaching in their daily lives, it’s not often that someone truly embodies the philosophy in all that they do.
Merge the principles of the Golden Rule with those of UNC Health’s system value of Carolina Care* and you get Wendy Stevenson, a true UNC Health #ValuesSuperStar.
Wendy is a cashier in the Holly Springs Café at Rex Holly Springs Hospital. Since the hospital opened in November 2021, Wendy has been going over and above to make every patient, visitor and teammate feel welcomed.
“She has a smile for everyone,” shares Aggy Moyer, Rex Holly Springs Hospital Employee Health Services nurse.
It’s not just her smile that draws people to Wendy, it’s her ability to listen and make people feel seen. “She pays attention and remembers the little details,” Aggy continues. “She remembers who you are, she asks about your hobbies, she even anticipates your order!”
For Wendy, it all goes back to the Golden Rule and providing the best possible Carolina Care.
“I just like helping people,” she shares. “I like to treat people the way I like to be treated and hope they do the same.”
Thank you, Wendy Stevenson, for being one of our UNC Health Values Superstars and part of our One Great Team.
