#ValuesSuperStars: Ashly Wilson – Rising to the Occasion
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have taken on new responsibilities outside of our typical roles or departments. Ashly Wilson, Corporate and Community Relations Administrative Coordinator, is one of those people, continually seeking opportunities to lend an extra hand.
Ashly was nominated as one of UNC Health’s #ValuesSuperStars by the entire Corporate and Community Relations team. Ashly embodies One Great Team as she has consistently stepped in without hesitation to support teammates across the Triangle.
“Throughout the pandemic, our team has really shifted in different ways and taken on different tasks to best serve the organization and community,” shared Kerry Grace Heckle, Executive Director of Corporate and Community Relations. “Whether [Ashly] was familiar with [a task] or not, or if it was convenient or not, she found a way to figure it out.” Ashly’s dedication shines through, as she “has risen to more occasions than we can count,” Kerry said. “No matter what the task is, Ashly is there to jump in and help.”
Ashly has volunteered to take on additional shifts supporting our UNC Health vaccination effort, including Friday overnight shifts at the Medical Center, through Helping Hands. Beyond her immediate responsibilities, Ashly always takes it upon herself to find new and meaningful ways to improve the health and well-being of those we serve. Ashly has also gone above and beyond to help with various UNC Health community engagement opportunities. For example, she represented UNC Health through NC MedAssist to ensure people in need had access to over-the-counter medications during the pandemic, and helped with our annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive. In her 13 years at UNC Health, Ashly’s commitment to our One Great Team has been unwavering.
Kerry said her team knows they can rely on Ashly, regardless of the situation. “Even when things may not be clear, she is resourceful, highly accountable and always puts the customer, teammate and community first. She radiates positivity, and we count ourselves lucky to work with Ashly.”
Ashly is motivated to make a difference in the lives of teammates, patients and throughout the community. “I love helping others,” she said. “I feel like it’s just in my nature to do so. It’s a great joy being a help to others and being a team player.”
Thank you, Ashly, for being one of our #ValuesSuperStars and part of our One Great Team.
