Numerals vs. words

In general, write out numbers one through nine.

10 is a numeral.

Always spell out the number if it’s the first word in a sentence.

Dates and time

AP style is Thursday, May 10, 10 p.m. Usually, list the date and day before the time.

Foundation style is ET or EST, not EDT

Don’t use subscript / superscript for dates. Say “Make your impact by June 30.” not “by June 30th.”

March 13 – 19 (hyphen or en dash), not March 13 – 19 (em dash)
